Sherbrooke | Arrest for more than 40 cases of stones thrown at cars

(Sherbrooke) A man well known to police officers who is suspected of having thrown stones at dozens of cars traveling in Sherbrooke was arrested Tuesday afternoon.

The Sherbrooke Police Department (SPS) believes that the 44-year-old suspect is linked to more than forty cases of cars hit by stones since the beginning of February on Chemin Sainte-Catherine, in the southwest of the city.

The most recent misdeed known to police occurred last Monday. Around 9 p.m., a motorist who was driving on Chemin Sainte-Catherine received a rock on her windshield, which shattered towards the inside of the passenger compartment. The driver was not injured.

The day before his arrest, the suspect had just been released by a court for criminal acts he allegedly committed in recent weeks.

He is expected to appear in court Wednesday on charges of assault with a weapon and mischief to a vehicle, according to the SPS.
