Hard blow for Catherine Matausch. The holder of the national weekend news editions must be absent for “a few weeks” because of a domestic accident. This Monday, April 17, 2023, the latter took to her social networks to announce the sad news to her community. “The shit flies in squadron”, she launched on her Instagram account before explaining to suffer from a broken wrist. “And it’s the same for everyone, so against all odds I keep smiling. No choice, despite the sudden absence of my right hand due to a stupid wrist fracture. Ahhh domestic accidents!” , she added, not without a touch of humor.
Deprived of her right hand, Catherine Matausch will therefore not return to the office for “a few weeks”. To replace her, the channel called on its joker, Sophie Le Saint.

Catherine Matausch operated on for lung cancer
This is not the first time that Catherine Matausch has moved away from the studios. Last year, the months of March and May were particularly complicated for the 63-year-old journalist. She had “accumulated health problems”, reports our colleagues from Puremédias. As a reminder, the star of France 3 was suffering from cancer. She then had to undergo a lung operation which forced her to rest.
The career of the journalist is also in danger since the chain would have announced the imminent disappearance of the national editions of information of France 3. That is, the “12/13” and the “19/20”. A decision that led Catherine Matausch to think very seriously about her future. “I’m thinking about my place within France Télévisions, but I can’t help but feel sidelined,” she confided in the columns of Télé Star. And to conclude: “I nevertheless remain calm. Moving forward does not scare me, as long as there is a path”.
