In 2013, France discovered Olympe during the second season of “The Voice”. Customer adviser in a culinary store in Amiens at the time, the young man had captivated the judges and the viewers with his cover, which became cult, of the tube “Born to die” by Lana Del Rey. If the candidate had not won this season, he nevertheless left victorious since he signed, in the process, a contract with Mercury Records to release two albums!
Nearly a decade after her time in telecrochet, Olympe has just granted an interview to RTL Info in order to promote her new opus entitled “Press Play”. With the Belgian media, the singer confided in the glory he knew after “The Voice” but also on the hatred he received.
Death threats and attempted homicide
“I was harassed for three years by a fan” reveals the artist before explaining that this “person created more than 500 accounts on the internet to [l’] insult”. A virtual harassment that turned into considerable physical and moral harassment. “I received death threats. She tried to knock me down in front of a hotel, during an autograph session” says the singer.
According to Olympe, it was her homosexuality that motivated her detractor to act in this way: “She told me each time that I was not with the right person. I needed to take stock, it was very far”. Joffrey Boulanger, his real name, therefore needed to take a break from his career in order to recover from this dark episode of his life.
Hurt by homophobic and grossophobic criticism, the singer needs to rebuild himself and regain his self-confidence: “I focused on my physique rather than my music for several years. […] Today, I want to show that you can do what you love by being yourself” he concluded.
