Shawinigan | Shots were reportedly fired at a ski resort

Shots were reportedly fired Saturday night at the Vallée du Parc ski resort in Shawinigan, Mauricie.

“There was an altercation in the parking lot between snowmobilers and resort customers. Unfortunately, we heard two shots from the parties involved,” he told The Press the general manager of the Vallée du Parc ski resort, Alain Beauparlant.

The altercation occurred around 9:30 p.m. at the Vallée du Parc station, located on Chemin de la Vallée-du-Parc, about ten kilometers north of the municipality. The Sûreté du Québec, which gives little information on the event, said it had opened an investigation.

The event did not cause any injuries. Forensic identification technicians and an investigator were dispatched to the scene. Witnesses will also be met to clarify the circumstances that led to this altercation.

“We don’t take this lightly. We will perhaps improve all the security at the level of the surveillance cameras, ”said the director, Mr. Beauparlant. The ski resort is open on Sunday.
