Sharp increase in hospitalizations in Quebec and 15,293 new cases

Quebec recorded a sharp increase in hospitalizations linked to COVID-19 on Monday and 15,293 new cases identified.

According to data published by the Ministry of Health and Social Services, 165 more people are hospitalized, including 19 more in intensive care and 146 more outside this unit.

The results bring to 1,215 the number of people hospitalized outside intensive care, while with the current load shedding, level 3, only 1,252 beds are available for patients with COVID-19.

In intensive care, 181 beds are occupied out of a capacity of 319.

The province also deplores 15 new deaths.

Of the 47,386 analyzes carried out in the last 24 hours, 30.2% obtained a positive result, or almost a third.

The vaccination campaign is slowing down due to the New Year, and a vaccine has been given to only 16,076 people.

The vaccination rate for a first dose remains at 89% among Quebecers aged 5 years and over. It is 82% for a second dose and 17% for a third dose.
