Fifth day of climbing the steps of Cannes. Three filmmakers who had previously been noticed or awarded at the Festival walked the red carpet with their teams: Danish filmmaker of Iranian origin Ali Abbasi for “Holy Spider”, Valeria Bruni Tedeschi for his tribute to Patrice Chéreau in “Les Amandiers” and Cédric Jimenez for “November”, presented out of competition.
Three films committed or anchored in reality under the spotlight on this fifth day of the festival. holy spider by Ali Abbasi deals with feminicides in Iran. Known from the Croisette, the filmmaker of Iranian origin had already won the Un Certain Regard prize in 2018 with his dramatic and fantastic film Border.
The Almond Trees by Valeria Bruni Tedeschi (also Un Certain Regard prize, in 2007 with her film Actresses) brings the theater to Cannes, and more precisely the time of the school of Patrice Chéreau in Nanterre, to which the director belonged.
