To say that Evander Kane’s career is faltering would be an understatement.

The forward has just been placed on waivers by the San Jose Sharks, who wish to terminate his contract.

The club cites breaches of his contract as an NHL player as well as the failure to comply with the COVID-19 protocol of the American Hockey League.

The termination of his contract, which kept him in San Jose until 2025, could mean a loss of nearly $ 23 million for the player, according to the CapFriendly benchmark.

Kane has only played five games for the San Jose Barracuda in the AHL this season. His last game in the NHL was on May 12, 2021.

The Vancouver native was suspended 21 games by the NHL last October for submitting a false document proving his COVID-19 vaccination.
