“It’s shameful! But that’s not what needs to be settled, it’s the price of fuel itself”, Franck breathes about the new fuel allowance provided for by the government’s purchasing power bill.

This Parisian regrets that this aid does not concern retirees like him, nor the unemployed. And for good reason: this boost, if voted by Parliament, will only concern the most modest employees, those who take their car to go to work.
The compensation will vary between 100 and 300 euros, provided that you do not receive more than 1,260 euros net for a single person. With this tightened aid for the most precarious workers, Fabien, another Parisian motorist, says he does not feel particularly aggrieved. He even finds it rather fair: “Some have more capacity to bear than others. I think it needs to be a much more selective and much more personalized aid by income bracket, more than doing it in a generalized way. It seems to me an equalization just and fair”he says.

This new system is in addition to the rebate of 18 euro cents at the pump set up last April. This discount will increase to 12 cents on October 1, then to 6 cents on November 1, to disappear in December 2022.
A prospect that does not delight Chabane, who has to fill up twice a week. “The worst time of the day is going to the gas pump. I prefer that we keep this measure for everyone. Besides, it’s minimal, 18 cents compared to the price of fuel, it’s not much…”, he breathes. The extension, the discount and the compensation will cost 4.6 billion euros in 2022.
