Chef Dominique Anglade has chosen to entrust Monsef Derraji with the role of official opposition spokesperson for Health and Social Services. The deputy for Nelligan, who was until then critical in matters of the Economy in particular, therefore becomes the interlocutor of the Minister of Health, Christian Dubé, at the Salon Bleu.

Mr. Derraji holds an MBA in pharmaceutical management and must complete his doctorate in public health by March 2022. The elected Montrealer had also lent a helping hand in CHSLDs during the first wave of the COVID pandemic -19.

The reshuffle of the shadow Liberal cabinet had become necessary after the dismissal of MP Marie Montpetit from the Liberal ranks in November. She had nevertheless lost her responsibilities a few hours before her expulsion following a heated exchange on Twitter where she had criticized her colleague, the former Minister of Health Gaétan Barrette, who had challenged family doctors on the social network .

The latter – who announced in November that he will not seek a new mandate in 2022 – had also been stripped of his functions by Mr.me Anglade. The chief rehabilitates the elected representative of La Pinière and entrusts him with Justice and Ethics. He will therefore respond to Simon Jolin-Barrette in the House.

In addition, Dominique Anglade gives the deputies Isabelle Melançon (Environment, Employment and Status of Women) and Marc Tanguay (Economy, Energy, Natural Resources, Innovation and Science) the mandate to promote the “Eco Project”, which aims in particular the nationalization of the green hydrogen, less than eight months from the next elections. Among other things, they will have the mandate to promote this “social project” in the eyes of the chef in the regions of Quebec.

Veteran Pierre Arcand retains the chairmanship of the Liberal caucus and becomes the official opposition spokesperson for the Treasury Board. Another change, Greg Kelley inherits the responsibility of Cyrbersecurity and Digital in addition to keeping Indigenous Affairs. Minister Éric Caire became, before the Holidays, the very first Minister of Cybersecurity and Digital.
