Sexual Assault | The trial of Major-General Dany Fortin resumes Monday

(Gatineau) The sexual assault trial of Major-General Dany Fortin is scheduled to resume for a third day at the Gatineau courthouse on Monday morning.

Posted at 6:13 a.m.

The Major-General spoke last September and denied any guilt in the case, saying he had never had physical contact with the complainant, who made detailed allegations against him in court.

The woman in question, whose identity is protected by a publication ban, told the judge presiding over the case that she has “no doubt” about the identity of her attacker.

The complainant said she awoke in her dorm room at Royal Military College Saint-Jean one night in 1988 to find the Major General masturbating with one of his hands.

Counsel for the accused indicated that she would vigorously contest the complainant’s identification of Mr. Fortin.

He was the officer in charge of the federal government’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign until his removal in May 2021 following an investigation into the allegation, which he also disputes in federal court.
