Former journalist Michel Venne has been dismissed by the Court of Appeal and will have to surrender to the authorities by next Tuesday to serve his 6-month prison sentence in the case of sexual assault against Léa Clermont-Dion of which he was found guilty.
The Court of Appeal upheld the guilty verdict against the former journalist on Wednesday, rejecting the idea that Judge Stéphane Poulain made errors in his June 2021 judgment.
He was found guilty of sexually assaulting author and director Léa Clermont-Dion during a business trip to Quebec in 2008. The victim was 17 years old at the time.
Last September, Michel Venne asked the Quebec Court of Appeal to be acquitted or to have a new trial.
