A young person who was present during the muscular intervention in front of the Dagobert bar was accused Friday morning for sexual assault on two minors. The Quebec City Police Service (SPVQ) says it is looking for other potential victims.
Kalilou Barry, 19, was arrested Thursday by the SPVQ in connection with these cases. Mr. Barry allegedly sexually assaulted the two teenage girls on August 4 in Quebec
Police also arrested two alleged accomplices of Mr. Barry on Thursday. The two teenagers were however minors at the time of the facts, which prevents us from naming them.
“The investigation, initiated last September following a denunciation, led to the arrest yesterday of Mamadou Kalilou Barry as well as two other male accomplices aged 17 and 18 for sexual assault on two elderly victims under 16 at the time of the events, ”the SPVQ said in a press release on Friday.
The SPVQ released a photo of Mr. Barry in the hope, she said, of obtaining further denunciations. “We have reason to believe that they could have assaulted other people,” the statement read.
Kalilou Barry was at the side of Pacifique Niyokwizera during the intervention at Dagobert. The young man had granted interviews to several media to denounce the police intervention that took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday in the capital.
The images of the violent arrest of Mr. Niyokwizera aroused strong reactions. Several other videos of violent arrests by the SPVQ have arisen in recent days and have embarrassed the police.
“They saw us as a gang and told us to get out. We were quiet waiting for our lift. We started filming them. Then, they took out the cayenne pepper ”, explained Kalilou Barry to Press the day after the operation.
Asked Friday about the time chosen for the arrests, a few days after a controversial intervention in Dagobert, the Minister of Public Security said to rely on the justice system.
“I don’t have to comment on this information. If they arrested him, it is because they have reasons, ”said Geneviève Guilbault in the press.
“Justice will take its course. If anyone is charged with sexual assault, I hope they arrest them, she said. I always salute the courage of the victims who denounce. ”
