Sexual Assault in Laval | Police are looking for other victims of Nabil Taher

Laval police are appealing to the public to identify other potential victims of Nabil Taher, a 41-year-old man arrested in March in connection with a sexual assault case allegedly committed in 2015.

According to the police force, elements of the investigation still in progress indeed lead to believe “that other people could have been victims of this man”. “The investigators would like to get in touch with them,” we insist.

You have to go back to September 10, 2015 to fully understand this case. That day, the accused would have first met his victim on a dating site. The two would then have “made an appointment in a motel” and it was during this meeting that “the man would have forced the victim to have sexual relations”, affirms the Laval police.

Before leaving the scene, Taher “would also have threatened the victim by asking him for money”, add the investigators.

His arrest took place almost seven years after the fact, on March 31, 2022. The man in his forties was then met by investigators, before being released on several conditions, including a promise to appear. His last appearance took place on July 14, at the Laval courthouse.

Nabil Taher has so far been charged with two crimes, sexual assault and robbery. However, he must return to court on February 17. Other charges could be added by then, if the authorities receive other testimonies.

Thus, the authorities invite anyone who may have been a victim of this man to contact the Info-Police Line of the Service de police de Laval (SPL), by dialing 450 662-INFO (4636) or 911, mentioning the number file LVL 150 912-002.
