Sexual assault complaint against former Ciivise vice-president dismissed, announces her lawyer

Pediatrician Caroline Rey-Salmon was accused by a former patient of sexual assault during a gynecological examination at the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris.

The complaint for sexual assault filed against pediatrician Caroline Rey-Salmon after her appointment as vice-president of the Independent Commission on Incest and Sexual Violence against Children (Ciivise) has been dismissed, her lawyer Marie Dosé announced to AFP and in a press release on Thursday, August 29.

This complaint was dismissed on the grounds that “the facts reported do not appear to be established either in their materiality or in their intentional nature”according to the notice of classification relayed in this press release co-signed by the pediatrician, and posted on the social network X by her counsel. Asked by franceinfo, the Paris prosecutor’s office had not yet responded as of Thursday afternoon.

The 25-year-old complainant, who gave her testimony exclusively to franceinfo, accused the pediatrician and forensic doctor of “sexual assault by a person abusing the authority conferred on them by their position” during a gynecological examination in June 2020 at the Hôtel-Dieu in Paris. The young woman was examined as part of a judicial investigation after filing a complaint for rape suffered as a child, between 2004 and 2009.

When this complaint was announced, Caroline Rey-Salmon began “completely withdrawn from the work of the commission throughout the investigation”announced Ciivise, referring to a decision “essential for the serenity of the work” and maintenance “trust” victims.

“The investigators have carried out all the investigations necessary to establish the truth: the medical file and the expert report of the complainant have been seized and all the witnesses have been heard.”say Marie Dosé and her client in their press release.

“Abused children deserve better than settling scores, and justice cannot become the preferred means of mistreating positions, careers and reputations.”add the two women, who announce that a complaint for “public defamation” had already been filed against the complainant.
