Sexual assault accusations: singer Luck Mervil back in court

Singer Luck Mervil must face justice again. He is accused of having sexually assaulted a person in 2000 in Rimouski.

The singer was arrested on November 29 by investigators from the crimes against the person division of Rimouski. The police went to Montreal to arrest and question him.

He is accused of having sexually assaulted a woman on the night of June 23 to 24, 2000 in Rimouski.

The case is subject to a publication ban in order to protect the identity of the complainant, who was an adult when the events allegedly occurred.

Another sexual matter

This is the second time that the 56-year-old singer has been in trouble with the law in connection with sex crimes.

In 2018, he admitted to sexually exploiting a babysitter for 6 months in the 1990s. He was sentenced to 6 months of home confinement at the time in addition to being placed on the sex offender registry.

The singer who has had a career all over the world recently asked to be removed from this register, insisting that it affects the development of his career.

Luck Mervil did not return our interview requests, but in the daily La Presse, the artist denied these accusations and claimed to be the victim of mistaken identity.

He is expected to return to the Rimouski courthouse on January 8 for the continuation of the legal proceedings.
