Sexual assault: a tutor from Quebec could have caused several victims

Police in Laval and Quebec are asking for the public’s help to determine whether a trained teacher from Quebec has made other minor victims of sexual crimes.

Mathieu Bonneau, 38, was arrested in connection with sexual assaults on minors last Saturday.

Although he is a resident of the Capitale-Nationale, the man was caught for actions he allegedly committed while he was passing through Laval.

He faces charges of sexual touching of a person under the age of 16, sexual assault and is accused of “engaging or inciting a child under the age of 16 to touch him or himself », According to the press release from the Laval Police Department.

Home teacher

According to what we can read on his social networks, Mathieu Bonneau does not teach in schools. Rather, he offered his tutoring services, or more precisely “academic, educational and family support” to children.

In 2021, he told the newspaper The Manic, based in Baie-Comeau, that he gave distance courses to elementary school children in the evenings and weekends in addition to being an author. The thirty-year-old has also published two novels.

Mathieu Bonneau was released following his arrest and will have to respect certain conditions while awaiting his return to court on December 19.
