The lawyer ofHugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou, two French rugby players taken into police custody on Tuesday July 9 in Argentina after a young woman accused them of sexual violence in their hotel, claimed that the sexual relations between the different parties were “consented”. He also maintains that the complainant did not receive any blows.
“It’s about meeting a player, then having sex with two players”said Rafael Cuneo Libarona, upon his arrival Wednesday in Mendoza, the city in central-western Argentina where Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou are expected to answer for the events that allegedly took place on the night of Saturday to Sunday.
“The young Frenchman invites him to go to the men’s toilets [de la boîte de nuit où ils se sont rencontrés]. She said she was embarrassed (…) but a few minutes later she went to the hotel, waited for [le joueur] looking for the key [de la chambre] and goes upstairs. There is no greater consent than this proof”added Rafael Cuneo Libarona, brother of Argentina’s Justice Minister, Mariano Cuneo Libarona.
“Witnesses saw her go out [de l’hôtel]the cameras saw her come out, there are no signs of beatings, apparently, according to the recordings. She claims to have been beaten, the cameras say she was not”the lawyer said. Pau second row, Hugo Auradou, 20, and La Rochelle third row, Oscar Jegou, 21, had already “confirmed having had sexual intercourse with the young woman during the night, but (…) firmly denied any form of violence”according to a press release from the French Rugby Federation.
But, according to the plaintiff’s lawyer, Natacha Romano, it was indeed a rape accompanied by violence. “Although the most serious of these crimes is sexual violence with carnal access [la définition judiciaire du viol en Argentine], “The violence with which these two men acted was merciless”she assures, evoking “physical injuries”.
His client “was savagely beaten” And “The two men engaged in a violent beating”she added. Arrested Monday in Buenos Aires, Hugo Auradou and Oscar Jegou were on Wednesday evening being transferred to Mendoza.
