After the date rape drug, the infamous GHB, a new scourge is gaining momentum in nightclubs. Several women taken from discomfort have filed a complaint in Nantes (Loire Atlantique) after being victims of needle sticks. An investigation was opened for the administration of substances harmful to health.
Thursday February 24, the reopening of the largest nightclub in Nantes (Loire Atlantique) turned into a nightmare. Around two o’clock in the morning, ten young women come to the establishment. They evoke a sting in the arm or thigh, headaches or vomiting. Symptoms are reminiscent of GHB poisoning, an odorless drug poured into a glass or directly injected to victims. Small needle, simple thumbtack? To find out the truth, the establishment has put the means: surveillance cameras, reinforcement of the security system and exit control for customers.
Toxicological analyzes are underway to find out if these young women have been drugged. Three of them filed a complaint for administration of harmful products. An investigation has been opened by the Nantes prosecutor’s office. The phenomenon is worrying for the French authorities who fear an English scenario where 56 cases of GHB poisoning by injection have already been confirmed.
