Several road exits in Eastern Quebec: the weather makes motorists see all the colors

Road conditions remain difficult in Eastern Quebec on this Monday morning, where several road trips are reported.

“We have a lot of collisions and road trips all over the territory, in eastern Quebec, particularly from Cacouna to Matane. Most of them are out of control. People have not adapted their driving to the prevailing road conditions at the moment,” said Sergeant Claude Doiron, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec.

“People need to get back to good driving habits in the winter. This morning, many are surprised by the snow. Some people don’t have their winter tires yet. We are there, ”added Mr. Doiron who does not however report any serious accident.

According to Tranports Québec, the roadway is snow-covered and visibility reduced on the 132 from Trois-Pistoles going east. The circulation of heavy vehicles is prohibited in several places.

Route 299 is closed between Sainte-Anne-des-Monts and Route du Lac-Sainte-Anne, in the Mont-Albert sector, in a southerly and northerly direction, until conditions improve.

According to the Météomédia site, the rapid accumulation of snow could make travel difficult in certain places. Visibility can be suddenly reduced at times in heavy snow.

Another system could affect Quebec.

Météomédia issued a warning about a system coming from Texas that could leave the first accumulations of snow on southern Quebec on Wednesday. It is still too early to say what the expected amounts of snow are.

The Sûreté du Québec reminds all drivers of the importance of adapting their driving to weather and road conditions.
