Several obstacles to be expected this weekend in Greater Montreal

Traffic obstructions will again be very numerous this weekend in Greater Montreal. In the metropolis, the holding of the Tour de l’île will also lead to the closure of local streets to motorists, as will the Firefighters’ Race in Laval.

As of Friday, it will be necessary to plan for the complete closure of the Saint-Pierre interchange ramp leading to the Honoré-Mercier bridge and Highway 20 West, in other words towards the airport. The same ramp, but towards Highway 20 East, will also be closed at night between Friday evening and Saturday morning.

Route 138 east towards the Saint-Pierre interchange will also be heavily obstructed, while its entrance from rue Clément will be closed from Friday to Monday.

On the Metropolitan Autoroute eastbound, exit 74 (rue D’Iberville) will be closed from Friday 11:59 p.m. to Saturday 9 p.m., then from Sunday 6 a.m. to Monday 6 a.m. Due to city work taking place simultaneously on boulevard Crémazie at the intersection of rue D’Iberville, congestion will probably be very dense there.

Exit 6 of the Ville-Marie Expressway, towards Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Berri Street, will also be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning eastbound, due to “sewer connection work” carried out by the City. , as part of the Place des Montréalaises development project.

Two ramps on Autoroute 25-Sud, between Sherbrooke Street and the Souligny interchange, will also have to be closed this weekend for joint sealing work on concrete slabs. It will therefore be impossible to take the entrance from Sherbrooke Street and exit 4, towards the Jacques-Cartier Bridge and downtown.

Laval and Longueuil also concerned

Further north, in Laval, work will begin on June 6 on Autoroute 15 between Autoroutes 640 and 50 as of June 6, to create a new lane reserved for public transit and carpooling. In total, the project will be spread over a period of three years.

Between June 6 and June 12, two out of four lanes of Highway 15 will be closed at night in both directions. Then, from June 12 until the fall of 2023, it will be necessary to provide for closures of the left shoulders of the motorway axis, always in both directions, between exits 28 and 35.

To resurface the road, Highway 13 will also be closed northbound, between axes 440 and Sainte-Rose Boulevard, from Friday evening to Monday morning. Access from Notre-Dame Boulevard and the 440 will be blocked.

On the South Shore, in La Prairie, two out of three lanes of Highway 15 will be closed at various times this weekend for road maintenance work. The section most affected by the closures will be between boulevard Matte, in Brossard, and boulevard Montcalm, in Candiac.

In Pointe-Claire, exit 53 of Highway 20 westbound, leading to boulevard des Sources, will be closed from Friday evening to Monday morning. We will proceed there during the weekend to repair the beams of the Sources interchange. A detour will be set up on site via Saint-Jean Boulevard.

Island tour and firefighters’ race

Several obstacles are also to be expected on the municipal network this weekend due to the Tour of the Island of Montreal, scheduled for Sunday, and its nocturnal equivalent on the night of Friday to Saturday.

Vélo Québec, responsible for the two events, indicated this week that for the “Tour la nuit” on Friday evening, east-west traffic will be possible on Highway 40, Notre-Dame Street and Sherbrooke Street. For north-south traffic, you will have to take Highway 25 or Boulevard Saint-Michel.

As for the Tour de l’île on Sunday, east-west traffic will be possible on Highway 40, Notre-Dame Street and Sherbrooke Street, but to travel from north to south, you will have to turn to Highway 25 , the Papineau or Saint-Denis axes, or even Highway 15.

On the North Shore, the Laval Firefighters Race, which will take place on Sunday from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m., will also ensure that “streets will be closed to traffic and unavailable for parking on Sunday, June 4 between 6 a.m. and 1 p.m., in certain neighborhoods, ”warned the City. Notice to interested parties: a map of these obstacles has also been published on the municipality’s website.
