Humanitarian aid operations for’Ukraine started in Germany. The Red Cross manages the stocks and sends parcels filled with relief materials, cans of drinking water, and even hygiene products. These 13 tons of aid will reach the cities flooded after the explosion of the Kakhovka dam, if Russia does not block their access.
On the beach of Almeria, Spain, migrants survived a shipwreck. The Spanish Coast Guard rescued 130 people from drowning. Their makeshift boat capsized close to shore, and several people could not be saved. Controls have been tightened since the beginning of the year, and the number of attempts to reach Europe via the Iberian Peninsula is down sharply.
An autonomous ferry inaugurated in Sweden
In Stockholm Bay, Sweden, a fully autonomous ferry has been inaugurated. On board, the pilot is content to supervise the machine, which is entirely electric and for commercial use. “The system updates ten times per second, so if a boat changes direction, or if a canoe crosses our path, the machine sees it in less than a second“, explains its designer, Erik Nilsson.
