In Paris, several hundred people gathered in front of the embassy of the Russian Federation, boulevard Lannes, in the 16th arrondissement, the franceinfo journalist on site noted on Sunday March 17. The queue stretches for hundreds of meters, including on the road for this third and final day of the Russian presidential election.
These demonstrators respond to the call “Noon against Putin” launched by Yulia Navalanaïa, the widow of Alexeï Navalny. In the queue, however, there are not only opponents of Vladimir Putin: the franceinfo journalist on site spoke with pro-Putin people who came to support the president.
Furthermore, a demonstration bringing together 200 people was held on Sunday afternoon on the Place du Trocadéro, near the Eiffel Tower. Opponents held up signs hostile to the Russian government, including a sign with the inscription “Illegitimate Putin” or “#Putinusurper”, as noted by the franceinfo journalist. These demonstrators also respond to the call “Noon against Putin”.
