While six departments in west-central France are on orange alert for “floods”, floods occurred on Saturday March 30 in the morning, notably in Vienne, Indre and Indre-et-Loire.

In the south of Vienne, the heavy rains that fell during the night from Friday to Saturday caused the Gartempe to overflow, so much so that the entire town center of Montmorillon was flooded, including the town hall, reports France Bleu Poitou. At the end of Saturday morning, the watercourse exceeded 4.50 meters in height, almost 2.50 meters higher than its usual level. As a precaution, homes have been evacuated, a toll-free number is also open (05 49 91 13 99). The Vienne department also urges motorists to exercise caution. On X (formerly Twitter), he indicates that several departmental roads are flooded and that diversions have been put in place.

In the west of Indre, the Creuse has risen from its bed in Le Blanc, near an exhibition center, reports France Bleu Berry. The Expo Fair which was to take place there this weekend is cancelled. Many roads are closed in the area. Several residents of Bélâbre were evacuated during the night from Friday to Saturday and found refuge in the town’s gymnasium, which activated its municipal protection plan. The Indre prefecture indicates, in a press release, that “150 homes are without electricity” due to these bad weather conditions. She also specifies that the firefighters carried out “150 interventions without any injuries to be reported”.

In the south-east of Indre-et-Loire, a sudden rise in water levels notably caused the evacuation of eight people in Loché-sur-Indrois, according to France Bleu Touraine.
