Several departments are experiencing an episode of fine particle pollution on Thursday, February 9. In question: a cooling of the temperatures which involves an increase in the emissions of heating, in particular with wood, explained the organization Atmo. The weak wind amplified the phenomenon. The Paris police headquarters thus announced the reduction of 20 km / h in the speed authorized in Ile-de-France on Friday. Heavy goods vehicles over 3.5 tonnes are obliged to circumvent the area via the Ile-de-France ring road. To reduce fine particle pollution, the police prefecture also prohibits the use of individual heating with auxiliary or amenity wood on Friday, “which contributes most strongly to the emission of fine particles”.
Further south, restrictive measures have also been taken in the Lyon region. The Rhône prefecture has announced the introduction of differentiated traffic on the perimeter of the low-emission zone of the Lyon metropolitan area, prohibiting vehicles classified as “Crit’air 4” from driving. “A temporary lowering of the speed of 20 km/h” on all the roads of the department where “the authorized speed limit is normally greater than or equal to 90 km/h” has been established. This last measure will also be applied in the Lake Geneva basin and in the Arve valley (Haute-Savoie), announced the prefectures of Ain and Haute-Savoie. The departments of Aisne, Nord, Loir-et-Cher, Morbihan and Seine-Maritime are also concerned.
