Signatory governments, including the United Kingdom and Canada, commit to “working to ensure that all global sales of new cars and vans are zero emission by 2040”, and “no later than 2035 in the main markets “. For their part,s OEMs such as Ford, General Motors, Volvo or Mercedez-Benz will strive “to achieve 100% sales of new cars and zero-emission vans in major markets by 2035 or before”. Signatory fleet owners, including Uber and Ikea, pledge that “100% of their cars and vans will be zero emission vehicles by 2030, or sooner, if markets allow”.
