This is a new blow for the association Les Chats Libre de Béziers. A fire broke out on Friday, July 15, near his animal shelter located in Villeneuve-lès-Béziers (Hérault). The flames then reached the shed where the animals are gathered. According to firefighters, ten boxes were destroyed and several animals died instantly. There is currently no exact count.
This is the second time in four months that the animal protection association has experienced a disaster. Last March, the refuge was damaged by an overflow of the Orb. Inside the shed, the water had risen to 80 cm causing significant material damage to the tune of 5,000 euros.
This boarder for animals normally welcomes 250 cats. Several of them were hastily released by firefighters and are therefore prowling around.
On the association’s Facebook page, volunteers have increased calls for help All night long. “Help EMERGENCY!! The shelter is on fire! […] We are looking for emergency shelters, sheds, garages etc… We urgently need foster families for the survivors.”says one of the posts.
