On sale since April, AS Saint-Etienne could soon know its new owners. Candidates for the takeover of the Saint-Etienne club had until Monday, November 8, at 6 p.m., to send their offers, which will now be studied by the investment bank KPMG.

Several offers submitted

Without revealing the number, the agency JPMA / SB, which deals with communication around the takeover of ASSE, revealed that “several offers” had been received by KPMG. The investment bank will now study them: “They are the subject of rigorous checks classic in this type of operation (credibility of commitments, origin of funds etc.)”, reads the press release. No time limit is set for the end of this procedure.

A complaint against Norodom Ravichak

KPMG bank will now select the best offers for the club in order to“avoid any mishap”, like that of the offer of the Cambodian prince Norodom Ravichak. He had publicly expressed his interest in buying ASSE, but the document he provided, serving as a bank guarantee of 100 million euros, as demanded by KPMG, turned out to be a forgery. AS Saint-Etienne therefore decided to file a complaint against Norodom Ravichak for “forgery, use of forgery and attempted fraud”. In a statement, the prince expressed “his astonishment at the accusations brought against him”. It also reserves “the right to initiate all appropriate legal actions in response to the complaint which would have been filed against him”.

An unfavorable context to obtain high offers

KPMG and the club’s presidents, Bernard Caïazzo and Roland Romeyer, will select a candidate who will allow the club to nurture great sporting ambitions and who will buy back their shares at an acceptable price. However, the sales environment is not optimal for obtaining good offers. French clubs and their finances have suffered the health crisis but especially those of TV rights, and ASSE is currently in a relegation position after a catastrophic start to the season and only one victory in thirteen games, obtained against Clermont on Sunday.
