Several BIXI stations out of order in Montreal

Dozens of BIXI Montréal docking points were down Thursday morning due to a “connectivity problem,” much to the dismay of users. The organization says it is working to resolve the situation as quickly as possible.

On the social network X, the management of the paramunicipal group indicated that “for several hours, around forty BIXI stations have been intermittently unavailable due to a connectivity problem, which our suppliers are working hard to resolve.”

“Our teams are actively working to restore full service as quickly as possible and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to these stations,” the organization added in an email.

Users experiencing problems are invited to contact BIXI customer service for any questions or rental difficulties, either by email, by telephone at 514-789-BIXI or online via the live chat service.

In total, the BIXI network includes some 11,000 bikes, of which approximately 2,600 are electric. These are distributed across 900 stations, located mainly on the island of Montreal, but also in Laval, Longueuil, Terrebonne, Sainte-Julie, Westmount, Montreal East, Boucherville and Ville Mont-Royal.

BIXI recently announced that its bikes had been used by 576,000 cyclists in 2023, a jump of 31%. More than 11 million trips were made, with several days with more than 70,000 trips. For the first time, bikes were available all winter long at 150 stations.
