seventeen films added to the official selection

The Cannes Film Festival completes the official selection for its 75th edition. Seventeen additional films have been added to the official selection of the Festival (May 17 to 28), the organization announced on Thursday April 21. Three films have notably been added to the 18 which were already competing for the Palme d’Or.

Spaniard Albert Serra, 46, will try his luck with Torment on the Islands, a story of love and writing with Benoît Magimel. He will rub shoulders A little brotherLéonor Serraille’s second feature film, the story of an immigrant family from the late 1980s to the present day in the Parisian suburbs, and The Otto Mountain by Belgian actress Charlotte Vandermeersch and her compatriot Felix Van Groeningen, adaptation by Italian novelist Paolo Cognetti.

Out of competition, the Festival will screen Emmanuel Mouret’s latest romantic comedy, one year after the release of The things we say, the things we do : Chronicle of a temporary liaison, where Sandrine Kiberlain and Vincent Macaigne form an adulterous couple. We will also find the musical Don Juan by Serge Bozon with Virginie Efira and Tahar Rahim and Dominique Moll’s latest thriller (Harry a friend who wishes you well), The Night of 12. Louis Garrel, he will see his last film, The Innocentalso shown out of competition.

The festival also added Chilean documentary filmmaker Patricio Guzman, a specialist in the history of his country, for a special screening, with Mi Pais Imaginario, as well as Palestinian, Moroccan and Tunisian films in the “Un Certain Regard” section. In this section will also appear the latest film by actor Gaspard Ulliel (More than everby Emily Atef), who died in a skiing accident last January.
