Seven years in prison were requested on Wednesday April 10 by the Lille judicial court against a driver tried for having killed a police officer and injuring another, during a road accident on September 4, 2020, reports France Bleu Nord. The prosecution also requires a 10-year ban on obtaining a driving license.

This 30-year-old mother was driving under the influence of drugs, having drunk alcohol and without a license. This evening of September 4, 2020, it is 11 p.m. when the driver does not slow down when arriving at an intersection, because the light turns green. According to experts, she is traveling at 105 km/h in a zone limited to 50. It is at this moment that a police car crosses the intersection, flashing lights on. The driver’s car crashed into the police vehicle, one of the two police officers died instantly, the other was injured. He suffers from post-traumatic stress.

At the hearing, the mother expressed her regrets, saying that she had treated her addictions and that she can never imagine touching a steering wheel again in her life. His lawyer requested a mixed sentence, carried out partly in prison and partly on probation. The court’s judgment will be delivered on May 15.
