Seven months after her arrival in Mayenne, a young Ukrainian takes part in the French swimming championships

She fled the war, which is ravaging her country, with her mother, at the very beginning of the conflict with Russia. She arrived in Mayenne on March 14 without speaking a single word of French, without knowing anything about the culture of our country. Tania, aged 13, has integrated beautifully thanks to her passion: swimming. The Ukrainian teenager is licensed at Stade Lavallois Natation and her performances are spectacular: “She’s a very good swimmer, she has very good times“confided a few weeks ago his trainer Léa Pineau.

Just seven months after her arrival in the department, Tania’s French adventure takes on another dimension. She will discover the high level by participating from this Thursday, November 3, in Chartres, in the French championships in the 25-meter pool. The competition will qualify for the short course world championships, scheduled from December 13 to 19, in Melbourne, Australia.

She arrived from Ukraine with a completely different way of working from ours, but she completely accepted what I wanted to put in place for her. And that impresses me” explained Léa Pineau. Impressive journey indeed. The beautiful story of the Ukrainian teenager, far from arms, far from chaos, continues with the ambition to become a renowned swimmer.
