Météo France placed seven departments of Normandy and Ile-de-France on orange alert for snow and ice on Tuesday, January 9 in the evening. These are Manche, Calvados, Orne, Eure, Eure-et-Loir, Yvelines and Essonne. Vigilance has been lifted for Isère, Savoie and Haute-Savoie. Earlier in the day, Météo France had justified this measure with a “Winter episode sufficiently notable (…) to make traffic conditions difficult”.

“After Tuesday’s snowfall, the ground will remain frozen with persistent patches of ice”, warns the institute on its site. On Tuesday evening, “We observed 15 cm of snow in Annecy”, adds Météo France. The Nord and Pas-de-Calais are kept on orange flood alert.
