The mercury could exceed, in places, 40°C. Météo France extends its alert, Monday July 17, and classifies six new departments in orange vigilance for heat waves. The alert, which comes into force on Tuesday, already concerned the Alpes-Maritimes. From midnight, the departments of Haute-Corse, Corse-du-Sud, Var, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Vaucluse and Pyrénées-Orientales will therefore also be concerned. The Principality of Andorra is also the subject of particular vigilance by the meteorological institute.

The mercury should reach 40°C in Provence, Corsica, Pyrénées-Orientales, Tarn and Isère. Météo France also specifies in its bulletin that these temperatures should remain high overnight from Tuesday to Wednesday. The heat should then persist “for several days” in the Paca region as well as in Corsica.
