Seven departments in central France on orange alert for storms on Tuesday, only nine departments maintained on orange heatwave alert

Météo-France is expecting “strong storms, with significant rainfall, hail, gusts and lightning” after Monday’s heat.

After the heat, the storms. Seven departments in central France Allier, Aveyron, Cantal, Haute-Loire, Loire, Puy-de-Dôme and Tarn – are placed on orange alert for thunderstorms on Tuesday, compared to three previously, according to the latest bulletin published Tuesday, August 13 at 6 a.m. by Météo-France. The forecaster expects “strong thunderstorms, with psignificant precipitation, hail, gusts and lightning along an axis going from the eastern Pyrenees to the Ardennes, in particular from Tarn to Allier this afternoon”.

Only nine departments are still on orange heatwave alert (compared to 40 previously). These are Ain, Drôme, Isère, Rhône, Haute-Savoie, Savoie, Corse-du-Sud, Haute-Corse and Alpes-Maritimes. This last department is the only one to be on orange heatwave alert on Wednesday.
