A serious work accident occurred Monday noon on a construction site at the foot of the Olympic Stadium mast in Montreal.
The accident occurred around 12:20 p.m.
“The worker apparently fell into an opening in the floor around an air duct,” said Marie-Claude Normandin, spokesperson for the Commission on Standards, Equity, Health and Safety. of work (CNESST).
According to the Montreal Fire Department, the victim fell about thirty feet, or approximately 10 meters.
Firefighters specializing in confined space rescues were dispatched to the scene to free the victim. They were able to extricate the man fairly quickly, then hand him over to the ambulance services.
The worker was rushed to hospital for treatment of serious injuries. He would find himself between life and death.
“The area has been secured. If there is a danger, it is certain that the site will be closed until it is safe again,” said Mr.me Normandy.
However, the circumstances of the incident remained unknown at the end of the afternoon.
It is currently unknown what the worker was doing there.
The CNESST dispatched inspectors to the scene of the accident to carry out their investigation.
