Serious accident in Lévis: a 16-year-old cyclist in critical condition

A young 16-year-old cyclist is in critical but stable condition after a collision with a car that occurred last night in Lévis in the Pintendre sector.

According to the City of Lévis Police Department (SPVL), the impact occurred around 8:45 p.m. near the intersection of Avenue des Ruisseaux and Route du Président-Kennedy.

The teenager was immediately transported to the Hôpital de l’Enfant-Jésus in Quebec City due to serious injuries. Authorities had reason to fear for his life, but the situation reportedly stabilized after a night spent in the operating theatre.

“There is talk of a head trauma and multiple fractures on his body. Since 4 a.m. this morning, his condition has been considered critical, but stable,” confirms David Francoeur, captain of the Lévis police.

SPVL investigators and collision reconstructionists from the Sûreté du Québec were called to the scene. This morning, officers were still trying to recover videotapes that could help the investigation progress.

“Currently, the accidental thesis is prioritized, it seems to be a stupid accident,” concludes Mr. Francoeur.
