Several searches involving about 175 police officers were underway Wednesday morning in four boroughs of Montreal in connection with a murder committed last month in the borough of Anjou, in the northeast of the city.
The Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM) was to provide a report on this vast operation later in the day. He should then explain the extent of the police deployment which also involves the Sûreté du Québec (SQ) and the Longueuil agglomeration police service (SPAL).
On March 19, around 10 p.m., an 18-year-old man was shot while standing on a sidewalk on avenue Hérisson, near the intersection of avenue Thérèse-Casgrain. He lost his life a few hours later in hospital.
Police believe the suspect(s) fired from a vehicle that quickly left the crime scene.
The young man became the sixth murder victim in 2023 on the territory patrolled by the SPVM.
