Laval police announced on Wednesday that they had arrested a 24-year-old young man in connection with the three arson attacks that occurred in as many months in a childcare center (CPE) in the Sainte-Dorothée district.
Jordan Picot Sudano was indeed arrested on November 20, barely two days after images captured by a surveillance camera showing a man approaching the exterior window of the childcare center to install an incendiary object there had been broadcast.
The suspect then left the scene quickly in the direction of the wooded area, located between the childcare center and the Pierre-Laporte park-school. We can see in the video in question that the man quickly leaves the scene, on the run, so as not to be spotted by potential witnesses.
No less than three fires have indeed been started at Les Soleils du monde daycare since August, according to Laval police. The first happened in August, then another in October. The most recent had occurred on November 6, in the early evening.
After being met by investigators, the suspect recently appeared at the Laval courthouse. He is charged with arson and possession of incendiary material, but has been released on conditions. His return to court is scheduled for March 9.
Despite the arrest, the investigation is continuing in this case. Anyone who has relevant information is asked to contact the Laval Police Info Line, by dialing 450-662-INFO (4636) or 911, mentioning the LVL file number 211-108-023.
