Even if it has not yet been filmed with us, the series About Anthony, a project led by ComediHa! and Quebecor Content, is already guaranteed to be adapted in France.
Charmed by the script submitted to it by producer Sylvain Parent-Bédard, the major Gaumont company bought the series, which will be produced in Quebec by Podz, with a view to making a French version.
“It’s the first time that one of our television concepts has been bought abroad on the basis of a bible and a script,” rejoices Sylvain Parent-Bédard.
Proof that this acquisition occurs early in the development ofAbout Anthonyneither the shooting dates, nor the distribution, nor the distribution platform of the series have yet been determined.
Inspired by his life
For Sylvain Parent-Bédard, this project will have a special meaning: this story of a woman who falls in love with a man who has two sons, one of whom is disabled, autistic, intellectually impaired, non-verbal and epileptic, is directly inspired of the relationship of his own son Antoine with his spouse, the humorist and screenwriter of this dramatic comedy, Cathleen Rouleau.
“A few years ago, I gave her the idea of writing a comedy number about what she was going through with Antoine. From there, she took a refresher course on scriptwriting for fiction series at the National School of Humor. »
The comedian then decided that the number on Antoine would rather be a series about Antoine.
“After a lot of thought, I found that what Cathleen was writing would be something extraordinary for society,” believes Mr. Parent-Bédard.
“When you live in a family like Antoine’s who has a lot of daily challenges, he adds, his voice choked with emotion, there is the possibility of being happy and having a life anyway. funny. »
“Antoine changed my life”
In a press release, the author stressed that “living with a disabled person means going through great trials, facing a thousand setbacks, hoping endlessly”.
On the other hand, she hastens to add, “it’s also howling with joy at the smallest victory, discovering unconditional love and filling a huge chest of stories every day. »
“Antoine changed my life. And I hope it changes that of the whole world, ”concludes Cathleen Rouleau.
