Sergei Lavrov expected in Turkey to discuss new agreement on Black Sea security

A new agreement coming? The head of Russian diplomacy, Sergei Lavrov, is expected in Turkey on Friday March 1 by President Recep Tayyip Erdogan. The latter is trying to relaunch negotiations to set up a new security mechanism for ships in the Black Sea, of which Turkey borders the southern part, when Ukraine and Russia are to the north.

Turkey had already been heavily involved in the establishment of a secure corridor in the Black Sea bringing together Ukraine and Russia under the auspices of the UN. An agreement on this subject was signed in July 2022 in Istanbul, then denounced a year later by Moscow. Follow our live stream.

American aid still blocked. This statement, made on Thursday, comes after his comments on Monday about the potential sending of ground troops to kyiv. In his speech to the Nation, Vladimir Putin warned Westerners on Thursday against “real threat” of nuclear war.
