This is not the first time that Jane Birkin has collaborated, professionally speaking, with her brother Andrew. In 2013, they released a book, titled Jane & Serge, a Family album. She had written the preface, he had taken it upon himself to bring together the most beautiful photographs he had taken of the couple. Now the duo is back in service this year, unveiling a new family album with Albin Michel. And inevitably, this pretty project, available in bookstores since September 28, 2022, is the pride of Charlotte Gainsbourg, daughter of the most famous couple of the 1970s.
This is why, on Instagram, the singer shared a whole bunch of images from the book, created by her mother and her uncle. On this slideshow, we can see snippets of Jane Birkin’s childhood, but also fond memories of Serge Gainsbourg, or of Kate Barry as a child, who had also become a photographer, as well as of Charlotte when she was a baby. Originally, Andrew Birkin had no ulterior motives when drawing his lens. Much of his work predates the release of the tube I love you, me neitherwhich ensured Gainsbourg success in 1969.
