(Sept-Îles) A major collision occurred Monday near Sept-Îles, on the North Shore. One person lost their life and another is in critical condition.
The Sûreté du Québec (SQ) indicates that the accident occurred around 4:30 p.m. on Route 138 at Rue Longuépée, when a heavy goods vehicle driver veered out of his lane.
The latter, aged 62, then collided with a sedan travelling in the opposite direction.
Two people were on board the sedan. The driver, an octogenarian man, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the passenger, a 63-year-old woman, was taken to hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the truck and his passenger were not injured.
An investigator and a reconstructionist were called to the scene to analyze the scene and try to shed light on the causes and circumstances of this accident.
SQ spokesperson Nicolas Scholtus says the truck driver will be interviewed by investigators.
