The idea of re-recording a handful of songs from his first album (Continental selection), published ten years ago, adding a few recent extracts seems absurd, but hey, it’s Gab Paquet’s idea after all. This lubricated voice singing about love without complexes, this character who can move from one musical genre to another without losing its flavor, a characteristic illustrated by Nice ladya medieval-style ballad composed for the film Farador by Édouard A. Tremblay. He plays it country on the pissante Poutine Dreamaddressed first (and in English) to “ rest of Canada” guilty of cultural appropriation with our national dish. On his anthem to Valentine’s Day entitled Sexual relations and presented as the “improbable meeting between Gainsbourg and Guns N’ Roses”, Paquet will even quote Gerry Boulet. Reheated, certainly, but in good taste – or not, some prefer it just like that. In concert on December 20 at the Ministère in Montreal, the next day at the Impérial in Quebec.
