Sentencing in 2022 | Jacob Hoggard no longer wants to appeal to the Supreme Court

Canadian singer Jacob Hoggard gives up plans to appeal his 2022 conviction for sexual assault in Toronto to the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court of Canada website indicates that the former singer of the group Hedley withdrew his request for leave to appeal on October 4.

The same day, Hoggard, 40, was found not guilty of sexual assault in a separate case in northeastern Ontario.

In the 2022 case in Toronto, a jury found Hoggard guilty of sexual assault causing bodily harm against an Ottawa woman, but not guilty of the same charge and of sexual interference with a teenage admirer.

Hoggard began serving his five-year prison sentence after the Ontario Court of Appeal upheld his conviction last August.

The singer then turned to the Supreme Court in early September, and the Court of Appeal subsequently rejected his request for release on bail pending the outcome of the application for leave to appeal to the highest court of the country.
