Cannes is burning with love this Wednesday. The entire Elvis film team creates the event during this 75th edition of the Cannes Film Festival. And many of them have made the trip to discover this biopic which promises to be rock’n’roll! And Kaia Gerber caused a stir in a simple but terrifically effective red dress. The beautiful 20-year-old brunette was obviously present to support her attractive companion, Austin Bustler, hero of the film presented this evening.
Elvis obviously retraces the life and musical work of Elvis Presley through the prism of his complex relationship with his mysterious manager, Colonel Tom Parker. The film explores their relationship over two decades, from the singer’s rise to unparalleled stardom, against a backdrop of cultural upheaval and America’s discovery of the end of innocence.
In this film by Baz Luhrmann (Romeo + Juliet, Moulin Rouge! and Australia), it is the incomparable Tom Hanks who embodies the formidable manager. The “King” is camped by the popular Austin Butler, who we have already seen in the series The Carrie Diaries as well as in the films Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood and The Dead Don’t Die, both presented at Cannes. Austin Butler has also made a lot of noise with his love life. If he has long dated Vanessa Hudgens, he is obviously today in a relationship with model Kaia Garber, daughter of supermodel Cindy Crawford.
And Elvis Presley’s granddaughter, Riley Keough who just presented at Cannes war ponyher first steps in directing, admitted to AFP that she cried “five minutes after the start of the film“.
