Sénou Coulibaly: “We are capable of the best and the worst”

The DFCO remains on five games without winning, and falls from 11th to 12th place in the Ligue 2 standings, after its draw (0-0) at home against Le Havre, Saturday October 1, 2022. A result as a tourniquet to stop the haemorrhage, but which is not fully reassuring especially in the offensive sector – four strikes, zero on target. On the other hand, for the second time this season, the defense did not concede a goal. The defender Senou Coulibaly (eight games played, six starts) returned to the microphone of France Bleu Bourgogne on the meeting and discusses the objectives for the rest of the season.

The losing streak ends. Is that what you hold?

It is the most important. It doesn’t matter how we did it. A series of four defeats is complicated. Very happy to have come out with this draw and above all a clean sheet (match without conceding a goal, editor’s note).

Did you feel any relief in the locker room?

Not so much, because it was important to us to win. Afterwards, it sure feels good, it gets your head out of the bucket. It’s a draw, with no goals conceded. Afterwards, with the ball, offensively, we have to do better to advance in this championship.

The defense is decimated, does that complicate the task?

It lacks a lot of defenders, Zargo (Touré), Cheick (Traoré), Ahmad (Ngouyamsa) and now Chris’ (Christopher Rocchia, out with an ankle injury). You have to tinker. Didier Ndong is quite versatile, he can play in that position. He showed it again, he was very solid. If you have to tinker to snatch a draw or a victory, we take it.

What is your assessment after ten days of Ligue 2?

The bottom line is that we are capable of the best and the worst, once again. We started really well, and after that we ran out of steam a lot. Afterwards, it is difficult to make an immediate observation after 10 days. I think we have to restart a dynamic, absolutely, before the World Cup break, we started against Le Havre and it will continue next week (in Amiens, Saturday October 8, editor’s note).

The DFCO is three points from the first relegation, and eight points from the leader. How are you doing?

We play at the top of the table. You always have to keep an eye on what’s going on at the bottom, of course, but we’re playing at the top of the table, I think we have the qualities for it. Afterwards, you always have to do more, all these little details, these little things that make us win games and start a series.
