A senior Iranian military official said on Friday evening February 24 that his country was still seeking revenge for Washington’s elimination of General Qassem Soleimani in 2020. “We hope we can kill [l’ancien président américain Donald] Trump”, General Amirali Hajizadeh claimed on television. This official said he also hoped “power to kill” former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, as well as the military who gave the order to assassinate the Iranian general.
At the beginning of January, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi declared that the blood of Qassem Soleimani would be “avenged”in front of a crowd commemorating the third anniversary of the death of this important Iranian general.
Donald Trump ordered the strike
Qassem Soleimani, one of the Revolutionary Guards’ commanders, was assassinated in Baghdad in a US raid in January 2020. Donald Trump said at the time he ordered the strike in response to a number of attacks on US interests in Iraq. Five days later, Iran retaliated by firing missiles at a US airbase in Iraq that housed US troops. No American soldier had been killed.
