Sending pornographic images to students | Six months in prison for a teacher

A former teacher at Collège Stanislas will be sent to prison for sending pornographic images to two students. Alexandre Gagné was sentenced to six months in prison on Friday.

Judge Pierre Dupras ratified the joint suggestion of six months less one day of incarceration on Friday afternoon. Both parties also proposed a two-year probation for Alexandre Gagné, who was free during the legal process. He had pleaded guilty last December to one count of sending pornographic images to two students.

The case will return to court on August 20. The judge will then decide whether Alexandre Gagné will have to comply with the obligations set out in the sex offender registry.

The two minor victims, whose identities are protected by an order, had a bond of trust with the man in his forties. He was their economics teacher at the time.

A survey of The Press had also revealed that Alexandre Gagné had contacted other minors while he was working in other schools, including the Liberté-Jeunesse school in Sainte-Marthe-sur-le-Lac and the Jean-Eudes college in Montreal. However, no charges were laid following our investigation.

Me François Parent represented the public prosecutor, while Mr.e Anne-Geneviève Robert defended the accused.
