Brady Tkachuk and Connor Brown also found the back of the net for the Senators. Filip Gustavsson made 35 saves.

The 22-year-old Norris was chosen at 19e rank in the 2017 Draft by the San Jose Sharks. He was making his first NHL game on US soil, having only played three games in Ottawa in 2019-2020.

For the Senators, it was their first visit to the United States since the 2019-20 season. The team had played five of their first six games in Ottawa and the other in Toronto.

Joe Pavelski was the Stars’ lone scorer as Braden Holtby suffered loss with 20 saves on 24 shots.

Norris scored on the game’s first power play in the first period, picking up a throw return from Tim Stutzle. Then Tkachuk gave Sens a 2-0 lead before the end of the period.

Norris then went 3-0 with the help of Drake Batherson in the second period.
