In return, the team from the Canadian capital sends goalkeeper Filip Gustavsson to the Wild.

Talbot, 35, still had a year left on his contract with the Wild. He is expected to earn just over $3.6 million next season.

A trade seemed in the cards since goalie agent George Bazos accosted Wild general manager Bill Guerin on draft night in Montreal. The Talbot clan resented the GM for offering Marc-André Fleury a two-year contract with the team.

This event was reported by Pierre LeBrun, of the TSN network. According to the informant, Bazos mentioned that “Billy will have a lot to think about.”

For his part, Mike Russo of The Athletic reported that Guerin would have replied to Bezos as follows: “I don’t give a damn about all that (“I don’t have shit to do”). Cam Talbot is under contract. George can say whatever he wants. My team is ready and so it is. We could have all the talk in the world. Cam is a member of our team. We like it very much. All we’re trying to do is win. »

A few days later, Cam is no longer a member of the team.

Last season, the Ontario goaltender earned 32 wins in 49 games. He posted a 2.77 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.
